BaaBaas 19 - 22 Uni Leavers

Updated: Feb 6, 2022

The Engineers & Medics BaaBaas put in a massive shift but ultimately lost out to a strong Uni side.

Uni struck quick with the quick feet of 12 beating the BaaBaas midfield to dot down within 5 minutes (7-0). The BaaBaas weren’t rattled though and playing into a tough wind stayed well in the fight and were eventually rewarded with a try in the corner from one of many Olly’s (Gittoes) (engineer), dotting down in the corner (7-5). Uni did some long kicks that went dead but eventually one did make touch and the field position wasn’t converted into their second try (12-5). The BaaBaas put Uni under intense pressure and eventually were rewarded with a yellow card with 5 to go before the break. Unfortunately, two penalties given away put the Uni back in BaaBaas territory and they converted with a third try just before HT (17-5 Uni).

The second half started with volume, mainly from the excellent BaaBaas supporters and it spurred the lads on for the opening try of the half, finished expertly by Oli Crousdon in the corner. Jobbers (engineer) slotted the extras (17-12). The Uni responded with a try that felt against the grain of play but that only made the support even louder (22-12). Eventually some classy breaks from Ollie, Oli, Olly and Ollie (and some other players too) gave the BaaBaas a penalty 5 out, which Will Taylor crashed over to help make it a three point game (thanks Jobbers (engineer) for the kick) (22-19). With 20 to go there was plenty of time and opportunities for more tries but unfortunately none came, and the BaaBaas refused a late penalty in favour of being fun and joué.

Thanks to all the fans (that were supporting the BaaBaas). We deserved an extra 4 points for having far superior chat.
